The Wall Street Journal 125th Anniversary Celebration

Campaign Description:

The Challenge
The Wall Street Journal was seeking to create an impactful virtual social community website to celebrate its anniversary that would allow generations of readers to celebrate the newsworthy contributions the WSJ newspaper has made.

Overview
Digital Instincts's solution for The Wall Street Journal was to design & code a User Generated Content destination website. The website enabled fans to contribute anniversary messages related to the Journal's impact on the world and their personal lives by trending the hashtag #WSJ125. The site's branding framework consisted of a mosaic of user profiles thumbnail photos which were were dynamically pulled into the site's homescreen. Site visitors could engage with the mosaic by clicking on a thumbnail to display that user's tweet, Instagram message or short video. The website was web & mobile friendly and used custom coded scripts that scraped Twitter & Instagram for any user content that used the hashtag #WSJ125. A custom Content Management System (CMS) was also created that allowed internal teams to easily review and approve messages and review flagged submissions, prior to their being published to the website. Custom scripts within the CMS flagged potentially threatening messages or inappropriate submissions which allowed for a quick, seamless process for the internal teams.
